I tried, like many of us, to quit smoking, so often it became a joke. I found that as well as the nicotine addiction it was the habit that triggered my desire for a cigarette.
The worst time was in the morning, after that first cup of tea (and toast) I really wanted, and needed, a cigarette. So eventually I always gave in.
